Julie Chen Moonves, who was one the original hosts and moderators for The Talk (a Daytime Emmy Award award-winning talk show), returned in August for the 22nd episode. The true passion of her life was writing. In fact, she won an Emmy. Then she won a second Emmy as a host of an excellent entertainment talk show. Between 2002 and 2010, Chen Moonves was the co-host for CBS News' morning weekday broadcast The Early Show. Prior to that she was anchor of the news on The Early Show and anchor of CBS Morning News, the CBS Television Network's early-morning, half-hour broadcast.Chen Moonves reported on several important news stories on The Early Show, including the 2003 war in Iraq. Chen Moonves was sent to Cairo following the events of 9/11. In Cairo, she scoured down and interviewed the father who commanded hijackers for an eye-opening and interesting interview. Chen Moonves interviewed celebrities such as Denzel Washington and Angelina Jolie. Also, she spoke to the former New York City mayor Rudy Giuliani as well as Queen Rania. Chen Moonves reported on the Emmy award-winning CBS Sunday Morning program. She profiled famous people like Jamie Lee Curtis, Betty White, Jamie Foxx, Katie Holmes, Scarlett Jhansson Matthew McConaughey Brooks, Robert DeNiro, and Jennifer Lopez. Prior to joining CBS News, Chen Moonves was a reporter for WDTN-TV Dayton (1995-1997). In addition, she was employed by ABC NewsOne from 1992-1995. She started her career as an assistant at ABC News, working on the late-night program Nightline alongside Ted Koppel. Ted Koppel remains one of Moonves' journalism idols. Chen Moonves was Koppel's co-worker on Anatomy of a Riot (the primetime special that won the Columbia du-Pont award and focused on how the Los Angeles riots of 1992).
